Gay Local Tips in Nice

Insider tips Nice: A small corner of heaven

Our super Host Stephan has the some tips to offer. He lives in Nice, on the amazing Côte d'Azur. Beaches, sunsets, perfect weather, Nice is one of those places feeling like summer all year long. It also has a great night life and a gay scene beyond your expectations. Follow Stephan's tips to enjoy the city as a gay local.

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?

Bar Bitch at Place Rossetti.

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?

Gossip bar, Rue Bonaparte

Which famous gay person is from your city?

I’ve been living in Nice for about two years now, not too sure which gay celebrity is from Nice, but the city and all the Côte d'Azur was a place of inspiration for a lots of artists: a lot of them spent years living here, painting, writing...whether they were gay or this will let you imagine the beauty of this small corner of the earth.

Ready to go dancing--what is the best gay dance club?

Le Glam, rue Eugene Emanuel

Which gay bar offers the best happy hour on a Wednesday?

Le 6, rue raoul Bosio

Where to start a gay tour in your home city?

For 7 months of the year, from April to end of November, the beach is the first place you want to go to.

Best place to socialize with the local gay community?

Cours Saleya around la Civette, or rue Bonaparte (Le Marais Nicois). Just going to the beach is a great way to mingle with gay locals. I recommend going to Castel Plage during the afternoon.

How gay-friendly is your home city?

Nice is very gay friendly, a lot of guys have decided to move here for the sea and sun, there are always lots of tourist any time of the year from all over the world...

A gay place for brunch on weekends?

The old Nice village is full of awesome places where to eat, I can personally recommend "Chez memere" rue Francis Gallo or Le bar du coin, place st Francois

What is gay life like in Nice?

After many years in London, I was a bit afraid to move in a smaller city like Nice...the reality is, Nice is a very vibrant city, there is a large gay community here, attracted by the weather, the beach and the outdoor lifestyle in general. I will say Nice is a French hybrid of Miami and Barcelona!

What are your favorite gay venues in Nice?

I am a very quiet guy, and I love to stop at "the central electrique" in rue Bonaparte or la Civette Cours Saleya for a coffee and read my newpaper while observing the world around me!
