Gay Local Tips in Prague

Prague: Progressive, tolerant and beautiful

Meet Emmanuel! Young professional Mexican living in Prague for many years. Enjoy making new friends, hosting dinners, sport and traveling. Emmanuel is happy to show you a thing or two of the local life in this beautiful city if the time allows.

What makes Prague a favorite gay destination?
Prague and its beauty attracts people from all around the world every year. Its still "affordable prices" and its charm makes gay people to pin it on their destination's map. Not to mention the beautiful men that you might find all over the city.

What is the best gay event that takes place in Prague?
In the last 5 years, the gay night life activity has changed positively in Prague. Clubs remain the same, but few gay parties are held time to time, such as Pioneer, Spritz, OMG, Comiks (gay friendly) Mikrona and Periscope.
Every end of August the biggest gay Pride in Central Europe is celebrated in Prague,  a week full of cultural and social events Organised by a group of enthusiastic people who managed to do it very successful and fun.

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? a nice dinner?
Definitely cafe-cafe on Rytirska street, right in the city center is "the place" to go. Great space, nice atmosphere and beautiful people. Do not miss the cakes!! They are amazing :)
To mention others. Celebrity Cafe, Erra cafe, Q cafe.

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?
Beers outside of the city center are generally cheap. A small bar called Kafirna on Kozi street  can be a good place to start the night. Mixed crowd, quiet and affordable.

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?
Many gay friendly bars are sometimes a better option than purely gay establishments. Groove bar in the city center and Kobra in the "heap neighbourhood " Holešovice can be a good option. Prague is extremely tolerant with the gay community , no need to spend your whole holiday hiding in gay establishments.
Newly open "DANDY" cocktails bar in Vinohrady is a great option. Is a gay-friendly cosy place.

Which famous LGBTQ personality is from Prague?
Few singers and celebrities are openly gay. Being gay in Prague is not "the issue" everyone sees it normal and respect it.

Ready to go dancing--what is the best gay dance club?
Clubbing scene is not as broad in terms of variety. However, do not miss Termix and Termax. Is a most to see if you visit Prague

Which gay bar offers the best happy hour on a Wednesday?
Termix has Czech-Slovak night every Wednesday. Usually gets crowded with locals. The music is mainly Czech and Slovak hits of the past. A good experience when you are not really understanding any of the lyrics.

Where to start a gay tour in Prague?
I do not think that tours have to be "gay" to enjoy them. Prague is so beautiful that wherever you start your tour will be beautiful. Usually start at Old Town square.

Best place to socialize with the local gay community?
Termix

Best place to be surrounded by the local gays?
All the establishments mentioned above.

How gay-friendly is Prague?
Very friendly and tolerant with gays

A gay place for brunch on weekends?
cafe-cafe

What is gay life like in Prague?
Very progressive, tolerant and open. Every year gay activists try to give more rights to the LGBT community, and Czech government is reacting positively to most of petitions. Quite rapidly Prague has become a great gay destination.
