What makes Prague a favorite gay destination?

Prague is a fun and exciting place for gays and LGBT of all ages, there is something for everyone. It literally has something for every gay visitor, whether it's historic castles, trend setting designer shopping or the interesting gay scene, you won't be disappointed.

 

What is the best gay event that takes place in Prague?

Without a doubt it's Prague Pride, which takes place every August. Each year gets better and better. Over the course of the Pride week there are numerous events across the city, with the largest being the Pride Parade.

 

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? a nice dinner?

Erra, in downtown is a small friendly place with nice lunch and dinner menu, definitely more on the relaxed side of the spectrum. It is one of the more alternative stylish cafes in Prague, in the winter , when the open fire is lit, it's a warm and inviting place to go.

 

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?

Piano bar, one of the oldest gay establishments in Prague: cheap beer, warm welcome, and attractive bartenders a great combination. For an English speaking bar with international bar staff, Saints Bar on Polska street is a good choice.

 

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?

As a new addition to the gay scene, Dandy is a cosy cocktail bar, a relaxing space with a wide range of cocktails on offer. This place has made a great new addition to the scene in Prague.

 

Which famous gay person is from Prague?

Martina Navratilova, queen of the tennis courts in the 1980's. 

 

Ready to go dancing--what is the best gay dance club?

Club Termax on Vinohradska street is the biggest and best venue for dancing to the latest dance music, with 2 bars and a large dancefloor.  Open every Friday and Saturday, people head there around midnight. 

 

Which gay bar offers the best happy hour on a Wednesday?

Friends bar is a great venue in downtown Prague with a large bar, cosy seating areas and a small dancefloor. Usually, a younger crowd heads here on weekdays and weekends for their many themed nights-  eg. karaoke night, drag show, disco party. Open from 6pm with Happy Hours until 9pm.

 

Where to start a gay tour in Prague?

After Coffee bar is a new cozy bar on main gay street Vinohradská. It is for all those who love a good drink. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly staff take care of you.

 

Best place to socialize with the local gay community?

Without a doubt, QCafe, at the heart of the gay scene in Prague, with notice boards informing of upcoming events , a real good central meeting point across all spectrums of the gay community.

 

Best place to be surrounded by the local gays?

Club Termix is a long established club in Pragues gay district Vinohrady. At weekends Termix is always busy so you are guaranteed a good night out. Unpretentious and fun, they also have Czech music night on Wednesdays where many western pop songs are sung in Czech language. And on Thursdays there is Karaoke night. The crowd has a mixed range of ages, so you will feel at home here. It gets going around midnight.

 

How gay-friendly is Prague?

Very friendly, since the fall of communism , sexuality hasn't really been much of an issue in the big city

 

A gay place for brunch on weekends?

Celebrity Cafe on Vinohradska street offers food throughout the day, including breakfast. It is also a great place to go for a relaxing afternoon coffee, or pre-clubbing drinks in the evening.

 

What is gay life like in Prague?

It's fun and friendly, and there are plenty of places to go to meet new people.Prague is vibrant, and open. Being gay here is not a problem, I haven't encountered any negativity. All in all, Prague is one happy city, your life can be cheerful here. 

 

What are your favourite gay venues in Prague? 

I usually start dining with friends at Celebrity Cafe on their summer terrace where there is a great selection of international and czech meals.  We then go across the street go to a small cozy gay bar called After Coffee for pre-clubbing cocktails. After midnight, we move to club Termax where you can party until the morning.

Some of my older friends disappear right after dinner, they go to a gay cabaret club called Escape. There are unique shows, with beautiful and cute boys.
