We have the largest LGBT population in the US, great cultural events and nightlife, a diverse population, and lots of sights to see. Plus, despite the stereotypes, New Yorkers are very, very friendly.

What is the best gay event that takes place in New York?

New York Pride. The whole city gets involved, which makes it really welcoming and enjoyable.

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? a nice dinner?

Most any place in Hell's Kitchen would work but I recommend Vynyl or Therapy Bar for bar food and 44&X for something nicer.

Where to start a gay tour in New York?

The best and arguably most important place to start a gay tour is at the Stonewall Inn, which is where the LGBT rights movement really took flight.

Best place to be surrounded by the local gays?

Barrage in Hell's Kitchen, Barracuda in Chelsea, or Phoenix in the East Village.

What are your favourite gay venues in New York?

It depends on the evening but I prefer - and recommend - Barrage, DBL, Hardware, and Therapy Bar.  If you're more adventurous, The Eagle. :)
