Gay Local Tips in Sitges

Insider tips: Sitges has so much to choose from, where do you start?!

From Italian/Danish origins, Kim has lived in Sitges for 1.5 years after having lived in Copenhagen, Miami, Sydney, London and Berlin. I am working here as a masseur, Reiki healer and life coach. I also have a B&B renting out two rooms with terrace and beautiful views to the sunsets and mountains. Kim is a misterb&b host, renting out 2 rooms with a terrace and beautiful views of the of sunsets and mountains. He lives 100m from the beach and 100m from the gay area.

How gay friendly is Sitges?
Sitges is surrounded by beautiful beaches and mountains. It is one of the nicest and most friendly gay destinations in the world, because of the beaches, beautiful buildings, good restaurants, very compact town (27.000 people living here), international crowd, everything is walkable, no pollution/traffic and good friendly atmosphere. It is also very affordable, if you compare with other gay destinations like Ibiza and Mykonos. The climate is amazing, where it is sunny 300 days out of the year! The fantastic and beautiful city Barcelona is just a 30min train or bus ride away. I sometimes go out in Barcelona and take the cheap, easy and quick night bus back to Sitges.

Where are some of your favorite places to grab a drink?
The whole street, calle Montroig, with Parrot bar, Central bar plus many other bars, cafes and restaurants is one long catwalk and very entertaining. The two next streets (calle de Joan Tarrida and calle del Bonaire) are extensions of the “catwalk” with several other gay bars, cafes, restaurants and discos. But my preference is El Horno and Central!

And for a night out of dancing?
Queenz, XXL, Privilege and Organic are just some of the 40+ bars/clubs in Sitges. A new night, a new party!

For entertainment aside from the traditional bar or club, what do you suggest?
There are many gay bars with different shows from drag, music and comedy. Queens dinner show is famous. Lady Diamonds dinner show too. Piano bar is popular too for live musical songs.

Where would one go to be surrounded by locals?
Montroig cafe is not only gay, but in the summer it is very gay friendly and full of men sitting outside watching people walking by. Also, with 3 beaches to choose from: Balmins (nudist or clothes optional and bear/older crowd), El Muerto (mixed crowd, nudist or clothes optional) and Bassa Rodona (central beach for mixed crowd and the more beautiful younger fit crowd).
