Montreal: Celebrate who you are

Gay Local Tips in Montreal

Montreal: Celebrate who you are

Dominic is eager to guide you through this fantastic gay city. Montreal knows what's the spirit of a celebration with its events dedicated to the diversity of life. Grasp Dominic's insights on the various events, bars and places-to-be to ensure your stay in a remarkable one.

What makes your city a favorite gay destination?

Montreal is a city that's diverse; where gay men and women can be themselves and not have to worry about not being accepted as equals. It's a city that embraces all sorts of entertainment and culture. We have many festivals throughout the year, but especially in summer. From the International Jazz Festival (June 28-July 8) and Beer festival (June 14-18), we have Poutine and Ribs festivals (July 14-30), the International Firework (July 1-Aug 5), Montreal World Film Festival (Aug 25-Sept 5), Montreal Gay Pride (Aug 10-20). No matter what your desires are, be sure Montreal will have it and that you will create memories that will last a lifetime!

What's your favorite gay place to grab a bite for lunch or dinner?

For lunch, I'd recommend Rebel, and for dinner I'd recommend either Saloon or, if you like sushi, then I would suggest Sushi Dan, located in front of each other. Both are excellent.

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?

I would say Aigle Noir (Black Eagle).

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?

At Renard, the house speciality is called “Il Telmio”. It's an exquisite cocktail made with Calvados, St-Germain, Vermout blanc, Lemon, Ginger syrup, ginger beer and a sprig of rosemary!

We're ready to go dancing! What's your favorite gay club?

Stéréo; it’s an after-hours club, open from 02:00am to 12:00pm.

Which gay bar offers the best happy hour on a Wednesday?

Since the prices for beer is cheap every day, the village doesn't have specials on drinks during happy hour. But it’s safe to say that Black Eagle (Aigle Noir) always has a great crowd of men.

A gay place for brunch on weekends?

O’thym. You'll find it in the gay village at 1112 Boul de Maisonneuve.

Where should we start a gay tour in Montreal?

The best place to start your tour is to walk along St. Catherine Pedestrian mall, where there are tons of cafés and restaurants with terraces to enjoy or shops to browse in. I'd also suggest walking to Old Montreal from the Gay village taking in the cities architecture & beauty.

How gay-friendly is Montreal?

Montreal is very gay-friendly; probably the most gay-friendly city you'll ever visit!

And, so, what's gay life like in Montreal?

Being gay in Montreal is being free to be who you are. You're accepted for your talents, your beauty and your contribution to the city. You're loved no matter what your origins or what sexuality you are. It’s a city that welcomes all and celebrates all.
