Gay Local Tips in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires: Good vibes and the city

Sebastian is our mister of the week. This Buenos Aires host enjoys the life he is living in Argentina as an architect and actor. For this reason he's very eager to share his best advices on gay life in his city.

What makes your city a favorite gay destination?

Buenos Aires is a gay-friendly city with plenty of hot guys who will have you fall in love more than once block after block.

What is the best gay event that takes place in your city?

Gay Pride in November is good fun but other than that, there is no regular gay events. Gay parties and entertaining take place all the way through the year and there is at least a gay event every weekend. They really do have something for everyone, including naked parties and "travestia" for crossdressers.

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? A nice dinner?

For a nice night out, I like Peuteo, a bar in Palermo for laid-back people and a chilling atmosphere, I also love Babieca, a typical porteño bar where gays of any age hang out all day. Right on Avenida Santa Fe, it’s a good place to eat and have a drink while enjoying the view of the pretty guys passing by...

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?

Sitges and KM zero are cool to get a beer and see transformistas or streepers shows, depending on program which varies daily. Plus, KM zero is open 7/7.

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?

Floreria Atlantico is a gay-friendly bar where good cocktails are a staple! A secret spot in the fanciest area of the city.

Which famous LGBTQI celebrity is from your city?

I honestly do not know worldly famous gays from Buenos Aires…

Ready to go dancing--what is the best gay dance club?

There are several nice places to go dancing, to-taste: from the classic Glam for people in their 20 up to 40, to Amerika a huge disco for all ages with a dark maze where anything may happen… for youngsters, the most popular are La Puerca and Reho.

Which gay bar offers the best happy hour on a Wednesday?

On a Wednesday, my go-to is KM zero, open every evening.

Where to start a gay tour in your home city?

San Telmo is worth a nice stroll by day, a breakfast or snack in the local gay spot, Pride Cafe, is vital. It is a quiet, relaxing place with all sort of people and "buena onda", our good vibes!

Best place to socialize with the local gay community?

Gays stroll down Avenida Santa Fe (mostly between Libertad and Laprida) all day (and night) long...

Best place to be surrounded by the local gays?

"La Recoleta" is the right neighborhood, if you wish to be surrounded by gay locals.

How gay-friendly is your home city?

Very. Recoleta, Palermo Soho, Palermo Hollywood and San Telmo are the most gay-friendly areas.

A gay place for brunch on weekends?

I definitely recommend Pride Cafe, cool people gather for brunch over there.

What is gay life like in Buenos Aiers?

Open, diverse and inclusive… gays are welcome, and everyone will find his own space. Buenos Aires really does have gay life for each and every taste!

What are your favourite gay venues in Buenos Aires?

Those I mentioned are my absolute favourites. Depending on the day, I might choose clubs such as Jungle Bar, Kadu and A Full Spa for the most adventurous...
