What makes Munich a favorite gay destination?

Munich is one of the most beautiful cities of Germany which is located in the foothils of Alps. As a gay tourist in Munich you will have great options for eating out or going shopping. Some of the events that can be attractive to gays are: Pink Christmas Market is a gay/lesbian Christmas market starting from Dec. 11th. Oktoberfest is a big beer festival in Munich known worldwide and needs no introduction.

What is the best gay event that takes place in Munich? 

CSD starts on 8th  through 16th July 2017; Starkbierfest is an international yearly gathering of leather and fetish fans organized by Münchner Löwen Club (MLC). Sinners’s Party: Gay-Lifestyle- und Clubbing-Event with Shows and international DJs on two Dancefloors (Pop and House).

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? a nice dinner?

The tavern Moro GmbH: a restaurant with international kitchen. 

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?

SUB: a popular gay bar run by volunteers is a social focal point where all members of the Queer Community and their allies are herzlich willkommen!. Bau is a bar on Müllerstraße 41 opening from 5pm.

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail? 

Glockenbach Cafe.

Which famous LGBTQI personality is from Munich?

Munich has a long history of famous gay celebrities: for example the poet August Graf von Platen, the writers Thomas and Klaus Mann, the circle around the poet Stefan George, the physician and sex researcher Magnus Hirschfeld, the actor Walter Sedlmayer and the filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder. And of course let's not forget the favourite monarch of all Bavaria, Ludwig II, whose homosexuality was an open secret even during his lifetime.

The Gay district of Munich is called Glockenbachviertel. The famoust street is Müllerstraße which has some gay bars and restaurants.

How gay-friendly is Munich?

The gay scene is not as big as in Cologne or Berlin but it is still pretty big and centred on the Glockenbachviertel. There are numerous projects and organisations working in the field, partly run by volunteers, partly funded by the city. Munich has a very good relationship with the community.

What is gay life like in Munich?

Munich is a safe city in Germany and people of Munich are very tolerant and open minded to gay community.

What are your favourite gay venues in Munich?

During the Octoberfest on the first Sunday, hundred of gays and lesbian celebrate together the Octoberfest in a giant Bräurosl Tent. This tent can accomodate 6,200 people. Personally, I like this amazing cheerful atmosphere and I highly recommend everyone to experience it by herself/himself.
