Gay Local Tips in Paris

Insider tips: Come enjoy the summer in beautiful Paris

Meet Benoit! Working as an export manager for fragrances in airports, he's often travelling out of Paris. We felt in love with his amazingly beautiful apartment, that just has been completely refurbished.

What makes Paris a favorite gay destination?
Paris is a marvelous city. I would not say that Paris is the gayest city ever, but what I mostly like with Paris is that you feel confident and secure everywhere, feeling free to hold your boyfriend's hand and kiss him on the lovers bridge! Paris is wonderful and despite all countries and cities I have already visited, I can honestly say that this city is amazing because of its architecture and atmosphere!

What is the best gay event that takes place Paris?
It's every Sunday in fact at Rosa Bonheur in Les Buttes Chaumont! This "guinguette" bar is typically french and every sunday is gay friendly. During summer and sunny days, you have to be there before 16:30 or you will be facing a huge queue that can make you wait more than an hour! As of 20:00 music starts to be lowder and everybody dances on great music. Beers is quite cheap (5.50€ per pint) and there are many delicious bites for hungers. For sure you will have a great night and meet fun people! Bars close around midnight so you can sleep to be "ok" on monday morning.

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? A nice dinner?
It's not gay but one of my favorite to grab a bite for lunch. Well in fact this is in the Marais so it can be considered as gay? Go to rue des Rosiers to take away a authentic falafel! For about 5€ you will get delicious sandwiches! For a nice dinner, still in the Marais, Les Maronniers restaurant is a good option for a cosy place to have dinner. It is usually crowded during weekends so go there not late or book a table. Try to be seated on the first floor, near windows it is so cosy and rather calm.

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?
Definitely The Cox 15 rue des Archives 75004. 3.90€ for a pint of beer, great deal! You will notice the bar, as during weekend everyone is outside the bar in the street. But in the Marais most of the bars do happy hour with pint of beers for less 5€!

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?
Little Red Door 60 rue Charlot 75003 Paris. Again not especially "gay" but since Paris is very welcoming you will have there almost everyone. The space is incredible, very cosy, intimate as well as authentic. Cocktails are great and if you do not like the menu, just ask the waiter to make its own one with your favorite ingredients! Now choose, shake & enjoy?

Which famous gay person is from Paris?
Well I would say me since I am on misterb&b newsletter? :p well, our former mayor Bertrand Delanoë which was rather popular is gay. Apart from him I have to say that I cannot say more...

Ready to go dancing--what is the best gay dance club?
Le Tango 13 rue au Maire 75003 is quite funny on friday and sunday night! Last DJ's are not performing there but music is fun and you can for sure have a nice moment. Prices are ok! If you have the chance to be in Paris during Doctor Love Party, do not miss it. This is my favorite gay party in Club Haussmann 23 rue Taitbout 75009 PARIS. The party takes place one saturday every month! Huge club and nice decorations, music is great but be careful as if you do not show before 1am you will queue a long time or even do not enter!

Best place to be surrounded by the local gays?
Le Marais for sure, starting from Thursday to Saturday night. Sunday night gay place is Rosa Bonheur at Les Buttes Chaumont.

How gay-friendly is Paris?
Whereas Paris was the city of anti gay marriage, I would say that Paris is one of the most gay friendly city in the world. As said before, you can easily show your gay attitude without having bad look from people.

A gay place for brunch on weekends?
Le Nomad’s on Place du marché Saint Honoré 75001. Nice food with all you can eat buffet, 32€ per head!
