Gay Local Tips in Paris

Insider tips: Welcome to Paris, where even apartments can look like museums!

Meet Frederic! This art collector from Paris will be more than happy to welcome you in one of his two apartments, both decorated with very good and original taste!

What makes your city a favorite gay destination?
Paris is easy to live and lots of gay clubs are located in the same area. That's why it's easy to visit and "be gay" in this area, as people are used to see boys together, it's safe. At the same time, Paris is a very easy city to walk and see and enjoy history at every corner of a street and get some fashion too: look at people then rush to get what they wear, it's so trendy.

What is the best gay event that takes place in your city?
Probably the gay pride event on the last Saturday of June (this year the parade is exceptionnally postponed to July 2 because of the European Football Championship happening in Paris in June).  But you also have a lot of fetish events taking place in Paris.

What is your favorite gay establishment to grab a bite for lunch? a nice dinner?
For lunch you should try Le Carrefour, rue des Archives, just some salads and omelets but with a view: it's the main access point to Le Marais gay area any time of the day. All the gays will pass in front of you.
Dinner time is wide open but you should try Tata burger, it's so 50's, so American. Try also the Open Cafe for the atmosphere and the view and the music.

Best gay bar for a cheap beer?
The Cox rue des Archives is well known and they sell so much beer that they created their own brand "the cox beer" that you can find in other gay places too.

Best gay bar for a refreshing cocktail?
Try the Raidd Bar rue du Temple. If you feel hot, some guys will have shower in front of you while you're drinking your cocktail.

Ready to go dancing--what is the best gay dance club?
Always some events in Paris. I love the Tango (La Boîte à Frissons) rue au Maire, it welcomes everyone. Then you can go to Les Follivores (once a month) or Beardrop (4 times a year) which are very famous parties. Flyers are all over the streets in Hotel de Ville area: just pick up and choose the party of the day.

Which gay bar offers the best happy hour on a Wednesday?
I would go to LA MINE rue du Plâtre: you can mix with boys with all kinds of fetish or not and then follow the one you like best.

Where to start a gay tour in your home city?
Walk from Eiffel Tower to the Hotel de Ville: nice views then chill out in the Marais after a nice walk by the river.

Best place to socialize with the local gay community?
Try Carrefour in the afternoon: read a book or use Grindr, the one next to you will have Grindr too, that's always fun.

Best place to be surrounded by the local gays?
Walk by the Tuileries Gardens on the terraces. It's also a cruising place any time of the day.

How gay-friendly is Paris?
Paris is open to gay life in all districts from 1 to 9, elsewhere don't provoke but along the canal you will be fine too.

A gay place for brunch on weekends?
The Who's is the place to visit, sometimes they even serve you in pijamas to show it's Sunday and that they are late.

What is gay life like in Paris?
The law is for you and protects you, so just be happy.

What are your favourite gay venues in Paris?
I love the Quetzal bar and the Carrefour.
